Police Officers praise Gainsborough incredible community spirit

Officers have hailed a town’s “incredible community spirit” after supermarket staff stepped in to help a vulnerable woman who told them she had not eaten for days.

Lincolnshire Police said its officers, PC Mounde and PC Postles, attended an incident in Gainsborough on Saturday and found the woman hungry and without money.

The force explained that nearby food banks were closed for the Bank Holiday weekend, so the officers “decided to reach out to Tesco.”

Staff donated a week’s worth of groceries to the woman—and even included food for her dog.

The Officers said: “We delivered the food to the woman who was lost for words and could only express her thanks. We’re here to protect our communities, keep them safe and support them whenever we can – and that doesn’t always mean making an arrest. This is one example, one of many, which showcases the incredible community spirit in Lincolnshire and what makes our county so special.”
