Linden Terrace: Man charged with robbery

A 27 year old man has been charged with robbery and possession of a knife in a public place following a report that a woman was targeted after she visited a cashpoint.

Police were called to a report at 10.35pm on Sunday (23 July) that a woman had been approached by a man in Linden Terrace after she had withdrawn money at Tesco in Gainsborough.

The man is alleged to have produced a knife and made threats before stealing her wallet containing a large amount of cash.

The suspect was reported to have been on a bike and collided with a parked car before he left the scene.

The incident happened at around 10.30pm. Officers were immediately deployed and carried out searches of the local area, along with other enquiries.

Jake Turner, 27, of  Wembley Street, Gainsborough, was arrested just after 4am yesterday (24 July) by officers on Response.

He was charged with robbery and possession of a knife in a public place and remanded into custody. He will appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court today (25 July).
