Cameras and other monitoring equipment have been set up to analyse traffic in 80 locations across the town and surrounding area.

The information will be used to create a new “traffic model” designed to cut congestion in the town centre, Lincolnshire County Council said.

The monitoring began on Monday and will continue until 25 June.

Karen Cassar, assistant director for highways at the County Council, said: “We can use the intelligence we gather to help reduce delays and congestion in the town centre.”

The council added some follow-up traffic surveys will be carried out in September in the Lea Road and Foxby Hill areas and near the town centre after a new roundabout has been completed.
