New improved Play Park and Playing Field Facilities now open following official launch.

Marton and Gate Burton residents and visitors will benefit following the opening of new and improved play equipment and seating.

The Play Park and Playing Field is officially open following a launch party attended by the community. Councillor Roger Pilgrim attended on behalf of West Lindsey District Council in recognition of their Third-Party Contribution to FCC Community Foundation, at the facility in Trent Port Road, Marton on Saturday 16 September 2023 at 4:00pm. The ribbon was cut by Mrs D Kitchinson, whose husband had raised money for the first swings and slide fifty years ago in 1973, accompanied by Kay of K & A’s Sandwich Bar.

New play equipment included 3 inclusive items: Planet Jungle with a double slide and ramp, Swirl roundabout and a Viking swing. Complimenting these are a 4m Pyramid Net Climber and a 2 Bay swing frame with cradle and flat seats, funded by a £57,462.85 grant from FCC Communities Foundation.

The Multi Use Games Wall was funded by an £8,160 grant from The National Lottery Community Fund and a £5,000 contribution from the Burnard Sunley Foundation has provided seating and picnic benches to complete the project.

David Smith, Chairman of Marton and Gate Burton Village Hall Committee,  is delighted that the improvements have been made and are in good use.

He says: “This vital facility is going to make a real difference to those who use it, as well as the wider community. We are extremely grateful to FCC Communities Foundation, the National Lottery and Burnard Sunley, for providing this funding as we would not have been able to go ahead without their support.”

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Cheryl Raynor, Grant Manager at FCC Communities Foundation said “We are delighted to see the project open and able to be enjoyed following the successful opening event. We’d like to say thank you to Council for applying for funding for the project and showing how much it was needed. We hope everyone has many years of fun on the new equipment!
