A man has been charged after a cyclist died in a crash with a van in Nottinghamshire.

Robert Noble, 57, from Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, died at the scene following the collision near the junction of Rampton Road and Cottam Road in Treswell on Sunday morning. Police say his family are now being supported by specially trained officers.

Nottinghamshire Police said Jack Bingley, 25, of Devonshire Road in Retford, has now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road traffic collision, and driving whilst under the influence of alcohol. Bingley appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Sunday (January 30) and was released on bail with conditions.

He has been released on bail with conditions and is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 27 February.

Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “This was a tragic incident that resulted in a man’s death.

“We have been working hard to understand what happened on Sunday morning and I am pleased we have now been able to charge a suspect. Our investigation will now carry on as we continue to support the victim’s family at this very difficult time.”
